A TRIP TO CATALINA —
It’s almost that time of the year, July 4th aka my birthday!
One of my favorite places to celebrate the Independence Holiday is Catalina Island. The island, like Brazilians, really knows how to throw a party!
This year, Daniel and I decided to extend the invitation to our family and friends as we believe it would be so much fun to have all of you experience the festivities with us!
Enjoy a live performance by the USC Marching Band, Golf Cart Parade, Dinghy Parade, Live Music, Firework Shows and much more - it’s a blast!
If you feel like joining us, below is our itinerary followed by some recommendations on where to stay and activities to book. Hotels and activities get sold out fast, we recommend booking yours asap.

HOW TO GET TO CATALINA
Catalina Express Ferry
The easiest, fastest and most affordable mode of transport is via the Catalina Express ferry. It departs from three different harbors: San Pedro, Dana Point and Long Beach. Departing from San Pedro or Long Beach are your best options if you’re coming in from the LA area. Each of these ferry routes takes about an hour one-way, give or take.
Maverick Helicopters
If you are feeling bougie and want to travel to Catalina in style, there are helicopter transfers via Maverick Helicopters that will get you to the island in an easy 15 minutes flat. This will cost you about $150 one-way or $300 round trip.
GETTING AROUND CATALINA
You’ll quickly notice the lack of cars on Catalina Island - most everyone gets around by golf cart. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to rent one for your whole trip.
Depending on your accommodation, it’s highly likely that the ferry is within walking distance to your hotel. Downtown Avalon is so small that everything is mostly within walking distance as well, so you should get around on your own two feet or grab a bike to explore the island.
WHERE TO STAY
We recommend staying at the Avalon side of the island for easy access to restaurants, activities, and to stay closer to us. Here are some hotel options:
Hotel Metropole
Hotel Atwater
The Avalon Hotel
Bellanca Hotel
Pavilion Hotel
Mt Ada
Zane Gray Pueblo Hotel
